TOBACCO Smoking Cessation clinic.
CONGRATULATIONS!! You want to quit smoking. Seven out of ten smokers do,
too. They feel they owe it to themselves and those they love. Have you had a
hard time trying to quit—and stay quit—on your own? Now you can join the latest
American Lung Association FREEDOM FROM SMOKING group program. You will get the
kind of support and skills you need to quit smoking for good. No two smokers
are alike, so we begin the program by finding out how ready you are to quit
smoking. Then, we’ll look at what people, places and things trigger YOUR urge
to light up. Then, we’ll help develop a plan that will work for you.
How does it work?
There are eight group sessions led by an expert who understands how hard it
is for smokers to quit. This may sound like a lot of time, but research has
proven that the more time a smoker spends in a supportive situation, the more
likely he or she is to succeed. The program uses a positive behavior change
approach that shows you how to become a nonsmoker and even have fun with the
group as you quit together. After you quit, we’ll give you plenty of help
staying off cigarettes forever. We’ll talk about dealing with symptoms of
recovery, controlling weight, managing stress and resisting the urge to smoke
when tough times come. We will give you an audiotape to help learn to relax
after quitting. For smokers—especially those who have tried to quit
before—group support can make the difference in helping you stay smoke-free.
The cost for the seven-week course is $50. Many insurance companies
reimburse smoking cessation costs. Contact your insurance provider to see if
your costs can be covered. For more information or to register for our next
